The Commanders capitalized on a punt fumbled by Velus Jones and picked up by Christian Holmes at the Bears’ six line.

At the very end of the game, on a fourth down and the goals, Montrealer Benjamin St-Juste tackled wide end Darnell Mooney a few inches from the end zone, sealing the win.

Carson Wentz had just 99 passing yards, but the Commands still snapped a four-game losing streak. Joey Slye provided field goals from 38 and 28 yards in the victory.

Robinson rushed for 60 yards, while receiver Terry McLaurin added 41 yards through the air for Washington’s squad.

Bears quarterback Justin Fields had five sacks and had 190 passing yards. He also had 88 rushing yards.

Running backs Khalil Herbert, with 75 yards, and David Montgomery, with 67 yards, also did well to contribute to the home team’s rushing offense.

Dante Pettis caught four balls for 84 yards for the Bears (2-4), who suffered a third straight loss. Mooney had seven catches for 68 yards.

The Commanders pulled off another big turnover, when Jonathan Allen intercepted a pass from Fields deep in enemy territory.

“God is good,” Allen said. The NFL is not for those who give up. It was a tough game. I am proud that we were able to leave the field with the victory. »

Late in the game, Fields raced to the Commanders’ five-line with a long 39-yard run, but the Bears couldn’t finish it. They had also squandered two chances to score points in the first half.

“We are always told that we are close to the goal. Personally, I’m exhausted from being near the goal, Fields said. I’m exhausted from being so close. I feel like I’ve heard that phrase for too long. »

Pettis didn’t catch a pass in the end zone on third down on the penultimate play of the game. Darrick Forrest did not let go of a second. St-Juste then did the work at Mooney’s expense.

The Bears will now head to Foxborough to face the New England Patriots there on October 24. The Commanders will host the Green Bay Packers next Sunday.
