Since the start of the year, 31,500 migrants have crossed the Channel to England. The attempts are daily and the authorities are unable to stop the phenomenon.
Every day, in the early hours of the morning, migrants try to cross the Channel to reach the United Kingdom, often aboard small makeshift boats overloaded. Since the start of the year, 31,500 have tried to reach the English coast, more than double the number of last year, according to figures from the maritime prefecture.
A total of 7,800 migrants had to be rescued. A situation worsened by the health crisis which has reduced truck traffic. “Before, many of these people stowed away on trucks, on containers and ships. Now they get on small boats at sea to cross it “, says Peter Walsh, Migration researcher observatory.
