In the Schumacher family, everyone knows the father, Michael, immense Formula 1 legend, winner of 7 world championship titles and considered by many to be the best driver in history. Unfortunately, the 53-year-old German pilot had a tragic fate, victim of a terrible fall on skis near Méribel (Savoie) in December 2013. Since then, apart from his relatives, no one really knows the state of health of the husband of Corinna Betsch, who lives between Switzerland and the Balearic Islands. His son Mike was quick to take over on the Formula 1 circuits and for two years now, he has been competing in the most prestigious of automobile competitions.
At 23, the young man is pursuing his dream and we imagine that his father must be very proud of him. The passion for driving is obviously a family affair since the champion’s nephew, David Schumacher is also a seasoned pilot. The 20-year-old, who is therefore the son of Ralf Schumacher, also a Formula 1 driver, is currently in a German touring car championship called the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters and unfortunately for him he got caught up in a terrible accident last Saturday during a race. While battling with another driver, Michael Schumacher’s nephew collided with his opponent and the two cars met propelled into security barriers.
When David got home he was still complaining of back pain
A particularly violent accident at the sight of the images and a third driver lost control of his vehicle, several elements of his car catching fire. Despite the violence of the crash, David Schumacher came out alive, but if everything seemed to be fine at first sight, he still made a trip to the hospital and a CT scan revealed that he was suffering from a fracture of a lumbar vertebra. Her father Ralf told the story to the magazine Motorsport : “When David got home he was still complaining of back pain. We decided to take him to the hospital in Salzburg for an MRI. It turned out that a lumbar vertebra was fractured”.
