Received this Thursday, October 13 by the management of the Stade de Reims, Coach Oscar Garcia was notified of his layoff as a precautionary measure. Management justifies its decision in a press release: “In view of the results, below the expected objectives and in order to protect the best interests of the institution, the Stade de Reims informs of the layoff on a protective basis of Oscar Garcia, as coach of the professional team”. The club announces that the interim will be ensured by William Still, current assistant coach.
The Stade de Reims which has only wononly one victory in 10 days of Ligue 1 football, points to 15th place in the standings, with 8 points on the clock. The team will travel to Lorient this Saturday, October 15, without its coach.
Several absences since the start of the season
The Spaniard Oscar Garcia had not been in Reims since October 2, since the match against ESTAC de Troyes. Absent from the bench during the reception of Paris Saint Germain at the Delaune stadium on Saturday October 8, he had mentioned “family reasons”.
For several months, the Stade de Reims coach had been making regular trips to Barcelona in Spain, for family problems. Suspended for two games for a red card, he was also absent to go to Spain.
