Marc-André Cauvier, 54, faces charges of attempted kidnapping, forcible confinement and assault. He appeared on Tuesday before a court of the Court of Quebec and will remain detained until his return to court scheduled for Thursday.

According to what the Service de police de Laval (SPL) learned, on 1er October, around 1 a.m., a 21-year-old woman was dropped off in the parking lot of the Montmorency metro station by the driver of a private passenger transportation service.

As she was heading towards her vehicle parked near Collège Montmorency, the young woman would have been accosted by the suspect who would have physically tried to kidnap her. After struggling, she would have succeeded in scaring him away.

The police believe it is possible that Marc-André Cauvier has made other victims and they invite them to come forward.

In addition, anyone who has information about the attempted kidnapping that occurred near Collège Montmorency can also communicate confidentially with the police or with the 911 emergency telephone exchange.
