An Australian study claims that drinking two to three cups of coffee a day reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality.

On the terrace of a restaurant, customers say they drink a lot of coffee every day. The first quality of coffee put forward by consumers is the reduction of fatigue. But caffeine does it even better: Consuming two to three cups of coffee a day can reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, according to an Australian study. “Coffee itself will reduce the risk of having a heart attack or stroke”explains Pr Patrick AssayagVice-President of the National Union of Cardiologists.

Coffee also reduces 30 % the risk of developing diabetes, specifies patrick Assayag. Coffee consumption would thus reduce the mortality of 30 %. To reach this conclusion, scientists followed 450,000 arabica drinkers for 12 years. But beware of excess: beyond six cups a day, heart rhythm problems are not excluded.
