Gilles Verdez explains why the artist cannot go to prison, live in “TPMP”

In November 2021, Jean-Luc Lahaye is indicted and remanded in custody. The singer, now 69, is accused of rape and sexual assault on minors over 15 years old. After a 6-month incarceration, the artist is released and will even give a concert next December on the occasion of his 70th birthday. A spectacle that outrages many alleged victims of the singer.

But in the end, how is it that he can go back on stage despite the accusations against him and that he is free? Gilles Verdez precisely gave the answer this Tuesday, October 11 on TPMP. “The judicial control does not impose a ban on him singing or meeting people. Even meeting minors is not prohibited for him”, first indicated the columnist.

Emails that “save” him

Subsequently, Fatou’s companion, although he assures that he is not defending Jean-Luc Lahaye, specifies that he is, from his “point of view”presumed innocent. “It’s probably debatable but he has the right to go back on stage”, he assures in front of a plateau dumbfounded by his answer. For his part, the artist’s producer expressed his astonishment. “I am very surprised by the reaction of these two women who stir up all the media. They would be shocked if he goes back on stage. But he is absolutely not found guilty and even less condemned. He is still presumed innocent”he said in a statement.

And if the singer, who will celebrate his 70th birthday in a few months, is free, it would be for a good reason. “There is a series of emails sent by one of the complainants to Jean-Luc Lahaye. Sent between 2015 and 2020. I can be told that they were under the influence, fine… but we are not vigilantes, the sentencing judge assessed these emails by saying that it still weakened the charges. On May 24, he was released from prison. But it was the sentencing judge who, on the basis of these elements, estimated that he could be placed under judicial control”finally informed Gilles Verdez.
