Faced with the urgency of climate change, political action is often judged as not being up to the challenge. What is lacking in political power to act, really? This is the subject of Talk franceinfo. Every evening from 6 p.m., Manon Mella and her guests debate with Internet users on the franceinfo Twitch channel.

Is the fight against global warming really compatible with political action within institutions? Robert Poujade, Prime Minister of Ecology in 1971, had described his ministry as “ministry of the impossible”. Fifty years later, is this the case?

Justine Reix, journalist, author of the investigative book Powder in the eyes (ed. JC Lattès), Victoria Koussa, political journalist at franceinfo, and Philippe Garcia, CGT union representative at the Ministry of Ecological Transition, are in the Talk to discuss it.

The life expectancy of ministers in this ministry is among the shortest of all government positions: 19 months on average. “Alone in the maneuver”confided Nicolas Hulot, on August 28, 2021 on France Inter the day he announced his resignation from the post of Minister of Ecology. “We are a bit like solitary worms”said Yves Cochet, former Minister of Ecology, when Delphine Batho, in the same position, affirmed: “We put you under glass.” The current Minister of Ecology Christophe Béchu told the newspaper The world last summer that faced with the magnitude of the task, he was seized with dizziness.

Does a minister or a minister for the ecological transition have to fight to exist? Is the pragmatism of political action compatible with ecological ambition?

Join us from 6 p.m. Monday to Friday on the franceinfo Twitch channel to participate in Manon Mella’s Talk. An hour of exchange, clarification, debate around topical and social issues.
