Energy bills for the month of December will be reimbursed to the Germans. Journalist Laurent Desbonnets, live from Berlin, explains how this measure works, Tuesday, October 11.

In Germany, the government announced on Monday, October 10, that it would pay the electricity bill. “The bills for the month of December will be reimbursed. This represents a gift of an average of 342 euros for German households. One month of heating and gas offered by the government”, details journalist Laurent Desbonnets, live from Berlin (Germany), Tuesday, October 11. The measure is expected to cost five billion euros and will benefit households and small businesses.

“At the beginning of next year, a tariff shield will come into force in Germany. A bazooka measure, since 80% of German energy consumption will be subsidized for one year”, continues the journalist. The overall cost of this system could reach 200 billion euros. “There are also critics, who point out that all these aids really do not encourage sobriety in energy consumption”concludes Laurent Desbonnets.
