Coach Marc Ramsay’s protege was originally scheduled to make his defense at the end of October, but a minor injury put an end to that possibility.
Beterbiev (18-0, 18 K.-O.) is expected to be the favorite against Englishman Yarde (22-2, 21 K.-O.). The adopted Montrealer now owns the World Boxing Council and International Boxing Federation light heavyweight belts after his victory over American Joe Smith Jr.
A possible victory would undoubtedly allow him to approach his ultimate goal, which is to face Dmitrii Bivol, to also seize the belt of the World Boxing Organization.
