Owners in Lac-Simon, in Outaouais, Patrice Bernard and Nathalie Brunet are selling their residence built in 2020-2021 in the heart of nature, on a five-acre lot. Contemporary in style, the single-storey house is a little gem in a huge green setting.

Patrice Bernard has put a lot of love and expertise into it. He is in fact co-founder of O Design & Co, an Outaouais company specializing in interior design and management of turnkey residential projects. As you are never better served than by yourself, it was professionals from your family business who took charge of the construction and development project.

The architectural volumes of the entrance to the house

The residence is located about forty minutes west of the Mont-Tremblant ski resort and less than two hours from Montreal, in the heart of land purchased in 2019 and overlooking the lake.

From the house, you can’t see any neighbors. But lots of animals! Especially deer, which can be seen almost every day.

Patrice Bernard, owner

“We have access to a private beach,” he adds. And in winter, the landscape is magical. Cross-country ski trails leave from the village of Chénéville. »

“The Jewel of the House”

The residence comprises 13 rooms, including 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Its threshold is impressive, with its very contemporary geometric volume. Past the vestibule, we discover the living room, the dining room and the kitchen which form a large room whose immensity is supported by the height of the walls: nearly 5 m. “It’s the jewel of the house,” says Patrice Bernard. With the height of the ceiling and the fully glazed rooms, we wanted to feel like part of nature. As if we were outside. »

The outdoor terrace, at the back

Upscale and understated, the interior features contemporary lines that work well with the warm furnishings and oiled light oak floors that highlight the grain of the wood. The kitchen and bathroom floors are covered with Italian ceramics. The floors are all equipped with radiant glycol heating.

The first annual electricity bill rose to $4,000, but Patrice Bernard explains that this is due to the fact that the first year, a new house is very humid and that Hydro-Québec bills have already gone down. “We also have a Stûv wood-burning fireplace for ambiance and which can easily heat the entire open area of the main room,” he says.

The house is sold, to take advantage of the favorable market, with all the furniture and decoration. “Our company carries out the entire chain of projects, from the plans to the furnishings, including the work that we follow through to the end,” says Patrice Bernard. So the lights, rugs, furniture, everything comes from our shop and our fifty suppliers. »

Services nearby

This property can be used as a second home, but the owners have made it their main place of life. “Summer is very busy,” says Patrice Bernard. And there are all the necessary services in Lac-Simon and Chénéville, the village next door. I raised my children here. There is an elementary school in Chénéville and a secondary school in Papineauville. »

The house in its wooded environment

The house being recent, its evaluation has not yet been transmitted to the owners by the municipality… nor the amount of the property tax. “It takes time,” says Patrice Bernard, who plans to miss his home. “When I get home, we’re not on the side of a road,” he says. There is a big path that goes uphill. And when you enter the house, it’s complete calm and the view of nature is really impressive. »
