While the Iranian Supreme Leader was speaking on state television, the evening newspaper was hacked on Saturday, October 8. Slogans facing the repression which would have killed 95 people were broadcast. This incredible act of protest echoes the demonstrations that have shaken the country since the death of Mahsa Amini.
It was an incredible act of protest that took place in Iran on Saturday October 8th. As the Supreme Leader spoke on state television, a mask in the colors of Iran appeared. Around the burning portrait of Ali Khamenei, these words: “The blood of our youth flows from your claws.” At the bottom of the screen are images of four young women who have died since the protests began, including the first, Mahsa Amini, who was arrested for not wearing her headscarf correctly.
The hack only lasted a few seconds, but it caused immense embarrassment for the channel’s presenter. This stunt was claimed by an opposition group. The strong repression of the regime does not seem to deter the country’s youth. Saturday, October 8, several rallies took place under high tension. While students were calling for public support, a man driving his car was shot in the head. According to an NGO, he honked his horn to express his encouragement, before the police fired.
