the painful story of the finalist affected by a genetic disease

After several weeks of competition, the eighth season of “The Voice Kids” came to an end on Saturday evening, October 8. The young Reunionese Raynaud, coached by Patrick Fiori was crowned. But among the other finalists, a young girl also managed to hold her own with subtle and captivating performances. Sanaa, who was part of Louane’s team, was also a strong contender for overall victory.

This Sunday, October 9, the 14-year-old young woman was the subject of the “Portrait of the week” orchestrated by Audrey Crespo Mara in “Seven to eight”. The one who skillfully interpreted in “The Voice Kids” the title “I send waltzing” confided with courage in the genetic disease which has handicapped her heavily for several years. “I have Ehlers Danlos syndrome which is a rare genetic disease that affects the joints, which causes me very strong pain. This means that I am very, very fragile and that I have to be careful all the time. I can fall and the pain will be felt 100 times more than a person who does not have this disease. When you see me like that, you might not believe, but there are days when it’s impossible to get up and there are others where everything is fine”she explained.

Fighting and courageous, Louane’s protege however learned to tame her illness to draw strength from it. “For evolution, it differs from people. Either when you grow up it can get worse or there can be an improvement (…) This disease, it will be there all the time, all my life. I can’t see it as a weakness and I have to learn to live with it. And even if there are negative sides, I tell myself that, precisely, it’s part of me, that I have to accept it and that I might as well make it a strength, rather than living it badly”, she asserted.
