The police officers of the judicial police, in charge in particular of criminal investigations, are angry. At the origin of the malaise, a highly contested reform, including on the side of the magistrates. In the aftermath of many rallies, a new day of demonstrations is scheduled for October 17.
In Versailles (Yvelines), in Perpignan (Pyrénées-Orientales), but also in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine), with a Marseillaise in front of the central management, the investigators of the judicial police (PJ) are angry. Spontaneous demonstrations took place all over France, Friday, October 7, to protest against the reform of the PJ, and the ousting of Éric Arella, the boss of the PJ in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), sanctioned after a video on social networks. We see the director general of the police come to explain the reform to very angry police officers, forming what they call “a hedge of dishonor”.
Rarely, a senior magistrate was indignant at this dismissal in a Tweet. The reason for this anger: the reform wanted by Gérald Darmanin. The Minister of the Interior intends, he said, to fight more effectively against daily violence, by asking the PJ investigators to support their colleagues in the police stations under the responsibility of the prefect. On October 17, magistrates planned to join the police for a large demonstration.
