“1:15 p.m. on Sunday”. Mrs. Sean Connery > Episodes 3 & 4

This unpublished series in four episodes of the magazine “1:15 p.m. on Sunday” (Twitter, #1:15 p.m.), signed Stéphanie Renouvin, Nicolas Bozino, Raphaël Aupy and Louis Mathews, is an exceptional document on a cult actor: Sean Connery. The eternal face of James Bond, the father of Indiana Jones, the Oscar-winning actor for his role in Brian De Palma’s film The Incorruptibles (1987)… disappeared on October 31, 2020. What is less well known is that he had been living for fifty years with a Frenchwoman, the painter Micheline Roquebrune.

She was much more than a wife to Sean Connery, whom she also advised, defended and protected. Before meeting him, she had already had several lives: forty years spent in the Maghreb, two marriages, three children… Her name is Connery, Madame Connery… And it was to her granddaughter, the journalist Stéphanie Renouvin, that she told the story of his life and images that no one had ever seen before…

An initiatory journey as we only see in the cinema

Micheline, born Roquebrune, has an incredible destiny, this formidable businesswoman, agent, protector… who has an eye on everything, at all times and has made herself indispensable. Over time, she gave up her career as a painter, remaining in the shadow of her illustrious husband. As she says herself:My priority is Sean.

Rich in the unpublished archives of the Connery family, this document highlights a woman with a powerful, charismatic, sometimes implacable personality, who crossed the century with striking freedom, even if it meant shaking up the times and propriety. An initiatory journey as we only see in the cinema…
