[Critique] «Cherry», Daphni | The duty

Canadian composer Dan Snaith is best known for his work released under the stage name Caribou, but his Daphni project deserves as much attention, especially from those who appreciate music designed to make people dance, which we are now allowed. since we try to forget the pandemic. Snaith has obviously spent a lot of time confined to tinkering with grooves: there are 14 on this third Daphni album, even more rigid than before, imbued with a disco and soul spirit distinguishing this collection from the more hypnotic, digital and stuffed with synths from the previous album nice may (2017). Between the authentic dance floor bombs that are the meditative Cloudy and its heady piano motif, the almost jazzy Amber and the hyperactive title song, Snaith drops several brief compositions with very varied colors which contribute to leaving us this impression of an album in the form of a quilt of small and tasty ideas which groove.
