Due to lack of fuel, school transport from Amiens, in the Somme, could not circulate on Wednesday, October 5. The situation could get even worse.

In Amiens (Somme), many school buses could not circulate due to the shortage of fuel, Wednesday, October 5. “Too bad if it’s the state that has to take care of it, but I find it a little surprising that the students can’t go to class”, says a parent. A mother asks that school buses be considered priority vehicles. Other sectors of Hauts-de-France are concerned, because several stations are out of fuel.

“We are always under tension (…) it is becoming more and more difficult to find fuel”, testifies Frédéric Demay, head of the mobility service of the Vimeu community of municipalities. Only ten buses were affected, but the situation could deteriorate and half of school transport could not be provided next week, according to Franck Dhersin, vice-president of the Regional Council of Hauts-de-France. More than 200,000 children in Hauts-de-France take the school bus every day.
