Produced by Karine Le Marchand, this project was close to the heart of the star presenter of the sixth channel. On the occasion of the next broadcast of her documentary, she confided in our colleagues from Puremédias.com who revealed some exchanges on their site. Stéphane Plaza’s great friend told them in particular that she had previously proposed another project to M6, refused this one.
Indeed, even before the broadcast of Ru Paul Drag Race France, Karine Le Marchand was working on a prime time access program featuring drag queens. “I had written an access with drag-queens“, confides the host to puremedias.com. The concept proposed to stage a friendly competition between “a team of drag queens” and “a team of women“. “They had to compete in make-up, sewing, etc.“, she specifies.
“I was told ‘No, but I don’t really believe in prime time’. No matter how much I told them they were wrong, that a competition of this kind could be super funny, super nice, that we as women have a lot to learn from drag queens, they told me say no”, said Lorraine. “‘Drag Race France’ was released on France 2, and it was a hit. And when we see the people who are in the room to attend the shows derived from the showthey are mothers with their daughters…“, says the host who laments: “Now that it exists, it’s screwed!“.
