Winner of the last marathon to be held in the capital in 2019, Kenyan David Mutai did not seem too shaken by the pandemic period as he easily won the Beneva de Québec marathon on Sunday in 2 h 24 min 20 s, that is 73 seconds faster than during his last participation.

“I found it to be a more moderate course, it was uphill at the start of the race rather than the end,” commented Mutai, who splits his time between Etobicoke, Ont., and Eldoret, Kenya, where he trains at altitude in the Rift Valley like many long-distance runners in his native country.
