Max Verstappen’s second world title is far from over. In the humidity of the Marina Bay circuit, it was Charles Leclerc who took pole position in the Singapore Grand Prix on Saturday October 1, far ahead of his Dutch rival, who will start in eighth position on the starting grid.

Already in the lead at the end of Q2, the Monegasque of Scuderia Ferrari signed his second consecutive pole, after that in Monza, on September 10th. Charles Leclerc is ahead of Sergio Pérez (Red Bull) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes), who will start from the front row. The top 5 is completed by Carlos Sainz (Ferrari) and Fernando Alonso (Alpine) who will compete in the 350th GP of his career on Sunday.

Expected at the turn, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) was on track to take pole but was unable to complete his last lap. Likely threatened by running out of gas, the world champion expressed his anger towards his team on the radio. The Dutchman will start just behind Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri), seventh, while the other Frenchman, Esteban Ocon (Alpine), could not do better than 18th in time.
