The sale of Olympique Lyonnais is becoming clearer. OL Groupe announced in a press release on Friday 30 September that the takeover by the American billionaire John Textor of almost all the shares of OL Groupe, the holding company which oversees the clubwill be made official on Friday, October 21.
The group of Jean-Michel Aulas announced Friday morning the postponement of the formalization of this sale, initially expected for September 30. It was finally announced in the evening that the parties had agreed “by way of amendment to their agreements”to finalize the operation twenty-two days later. “This additional time will be used to finalize the legal documentation and the final steps prior to the completion of the transaction.“, explains the press release from OL Groupe about this takeover.
Last June, OL announced the opening of exclusive negotiations to make John Textor, via his company Eagle Football, the majority shareholder of the group. This movement must be accompanied by an increase in the capital of the club to the tune of 86 million euros, “to make significant investments, particularly in sports teams, as well as in infrastructure”, according to the statement shared at the time.
