Friday, September 30 marks the annexation of four Ukrainian regions for Vladimir Putin. The Russian President made this event a day of national glory. The Ukrainian president responded by signing an application for his country’s accelerated membership in NATO.
On Red Square in Moscow (Russia)Friday, September 30, Vladimir Putin launches the cheer of victory. He is surrounded by four representatives of the Ukrainian territories he has just annexed. The staging is spectacular, suggesting a semblance of victory as his army loses ground, and the mobilization of reservists is contested.
“We have become stronger because we are together (…) which means that the victory will be ours“, said Vladimir Putin. The Russian president has multiplied the staging. He attacked the Westerners head-on, who unanimously condemn this annexation. In response, Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelensky, refuses negotiations and a ceasefire. He signed facing the camera a document to allow accelerated accession to NATO, which Moscow does not want.
