A first part had already been working since 2017, since Wednesday, officially, the Ardentes health center is complete. Its extension was inaugurated this Wednesday, September 28 in the presence of elected officials from the municipality, the department, the region and the Prefect. A grand inauguration, and for good reason, it is one of the most ambitious projects of recent years, in a department strongly affected by medical deserts. From now on, a dozen medical or paramedical professionals occupy the premisesand others will arrive soon in this municipality of just under 4,000 inhabitants.

The Berry is sorely lacking in doctors
This is all the more the case with us in Berry as the expression “medical desert” takes on its full meaning. There are only 123 GPs in Indre according to the prefect. In a study published this Friday, September 29 by the Association of Rural Mayors of France (AMRF), reveals thathe lacks 94 general practitioners in the Cher and 57 in the Indre.
On the specialist side, it’s not much better: the Berry is a very bad student. It lacks 18 cardiologists, 17 ophthalmologists, 17 pediatricians, and 13 pediatricians.
