Boulogne-Billancourt has just launched a card that allows pet owners to warn of the presence of their companion in their home, in the event of an accident. This card called _“I have a pet alone at home”_is available for download on the internet or for free from your veterinarian or groomer. A small piece of cardboard that is already meeting with some success.
Boulogne-Billancourt, animal-friendly city
Boulogne-Billancourt is not the first city to launch this card. In France, the paternity of this device goes to the city of Montpellier, which has been offering this small free card since September 2019. Since then, several cities have followed. In Île-de-France, this system has already existed for several years. The city of Paris, Châtillon, Poissy, Montreuil or the town hall of the 9th arrondissement already offer these cards.
In Boulogne, it is Emmanuelle Bonnehon, municipal councilor dedicated to the animal condition who is at the origin. It was moreover after a personal experience, when her dog almost ended up in the pound after the discomfort of a loved one, that she had the idea of implementing this system across the city. .
Well-received cards
When the city proposed to doctor Laurent Masson to deposit these small cards for his customers, he immediately accepted. It is indeed for him, a way of contributing to the well being of the companions who are welcomed in his clinic. He thinks, for example, that it could be useful for people with Alzheimer’s disease, as is the case for one of his clients who has a dog.
This card, “It’s really a good initiative because it’s true that we worry a lot about our animals”, hi Angie, who came to buy medicine for her cat Sappho who has diabetes. So she leaves the veterinary clinic with a card, which she will always have in her wallet in case something goes wrong.
