“Influenza is not something to be taken lightly. It’s a serious disease,” said National Public Health Director Dr.r Luc Boileau, at a press conference Thursday morning.
Influenza vaccination is recommended for children 6 months to 17 years of age with certain chronic conditions, adults with certain chronic conditions, pregnant women in their second and third trimesters, and people aged 75 and over.
It will be possible to receive both the vaccine against COVID-19 and influenza, indicated the Assistant Deputy Minister of the General Directorate for Network and Ministerial Coordination and Institutional Affairs of the Ministry of Health and Social Services. (MSSS), Daniel Desharnais.
There is no interaction between the two vaccines, said Dr.r Jean Longtin, microbiologist doctor. “It’s a good idea to pair them in the same appointments because we think there will be more adhesion,” added the specialist.
