More than 600 local elected officials, including 400 mayors, launched an appeal last weekend to support the re-election of Emmanuel Macron as President of the Republic, welcoming “a five-year term favorable to territories and municipalities”, in a column published in the JDD. Among the Paris mayors to sign this appeal: Olivier Klein, the mayor of Clichy-sous-Bois in Seine-Saint-Denis.
“To meet the immense challenges facing the Nation – reindustrialisation, further opening up of our municipalities, construction of housing, preservation of our landscapes and success of the ecological transition – we need continuity and stability”, write the 661 signatories of this text. “We simply want to continue the relationship of trust that in five years, we have been able to forge with the State”, add these elected officials, which also includes Karl Olive, the mayor of Poissy in the Yvelines.
Olivier Klein created a stir, during the municipal elections of 2020, with the federation of the Socialist Party in the 93. The latter accused him of having kept on his list, the LREM deputy Stéphane Testé. The PS had withdrawn his nomination from Olivier Klein, who had finally been re-elected in his city, in the first round with 64.5% of the votes cast.
