On September 29, 2022, Yves Rénier would have been 80 years old, but the famous commissioner Moulin left last year, on April 21, 2021, succumbing to a heart attack. The French actor, father of 4 children and married to Karin, leaves behind a career dominated by police roles that suited him so well and also the dubbing of American stars, thus lending his voice to the French version of Rick Hunter. But the one that was noticed in Belphegor or the Phantom of the Louvre by Claude Barma in 1965 had also shot in a lesser known film, central beijing. And in this feature film, he lent his acting skills to a character inspired by a TV star as powerful as she is today: Patrick Poivre d’Arvor. The portrait that is made of him in this work did not at all please the presenter of the JT, Yves Rénier had explained it without language of wood with Thierry Ardisson in 1988.

Not a little proud of his discovery, Yves Rénier confided then that he himself had imagined one of the scenes of the film where the hero defecates in a train car and visible in the trailer: “He wants to shit, he does that in the hallway because he finds a trash can and he thinks it’s a crapper. I said to myself it’s so big, that finally it becomes touching, nice.“

PPDA had not really appreciated this role inspired by his person and had therefore boycotted Yves Rénier on his set at TF1 at the time of the promo. With his patter, the actor remembers his reaction as follows: “He wants me dead. It’s incredible because I had nothing to do with it, I only played a character. I didn’t write this story. This is Camilla de Casabianca. She wanted to settle accounts, to turn it on. She chose me as an interpreter, I carried out the orders. I may have put a bit of zeal into it. I did the promotion, I do all the shows except PPDA. Poivre says ‘it’s out of the question for me to receive Rénier’, how do you expect me to do such a thing. All because I played Poivre d’Arvor and he f***s in socks and underpants in the film. He has no sense of humor.“
