Nearly 5,000 people demonstrated in eastern Germany on the evening of Monday, September 26. After supporting opponents of the Covid-19 vaccine, the anger of the far right and far left is now turning against the government’s energy policy. These movements attracted people, including moderate but exasperated people. “I’m here to challenge energy prices today. Who can pay for that?”, says a woman. The movement mainly affects the former regions of the GDR (German Democratic Republic).

Poland has inaugurated a new gas pipeline, in order to no longer be dependent on Russian gas. The country will have direct access to Norwegian gas, via Denmark. “It is a great day for Poland, Denmark, Norway and the whole European Union, which thus strengthens its energy security, peace and sovereignty”welcomed Andrzej Duda, the Polish President. With 900 kilometers of pipeline, a third of which at the bottom of the Baltic Sea, this gas pipeline will be able to deliver ten billion cubic meters of gas per year.
