I ordered a Ford Maverick which appears to be built but does not arrive. What to do?

I ordered a Ford Maverick last February. My dealer tells me the vehicle was built on July 28 and has been sitting in the factory parking lot ever since. No delivery date was communicated to me… Can you tell me what is happening?

Hello Vince,

You are aware that Ford, like several other car manufacturers, is struggling to deliver its vehicles due to the shortage of microprocessors. This is particularly noticeable in the case of the F-150 and Super Duty, for which delivery times are very long. That said, the echoes concerning the Maverick do not point in this direction. The fact that it is a less luxurious vehicle therefore does not really affect the manufacturer’s production capacity.

Unless there is information that escapes us, the manufacture of the vehicle would therefore be completed, and it would be stored in a parking lot waiting to be transported. Transport problems could explain the situation: another plague that accompanies the shortage of vehicles that we know today. Now, I allow myself to suppose that the manufacturers may prefer to deliver vehicles to the United States, where the distances are shorter and where the profits are higher, rather than prioritizing vehicles directed to Canada, which are more expensive. in transport for a lesser profit… A viable explanation, but that Ford would never dare to confirm.

You will also have noticed that the majority of Ford Mavericks on the road here are 2.0-liter models with four-wheel drive, which are generally very well equipped. More lucrative vehicles for the manufacturer than entry-level hybrid versions, which are very common among our neighbors to the south.

In my opinion, the problem is rather the unwillingness of the manufacturer to prioritize dedicated vehicles in Canada, rather than production capacity. A phenomenon that we also notice with other car manufacturers.
