The Fake Hair Don’t Care association collects hair donations to make wigs. They are intended for people who no longer have hair because of their illness. Brut shows you the entire creative process.
“We send about ten-kilo boxes a month.“Agnès is a hairdresser, and she welcomes people wishing to donate their hair to her salon. Louise is one of them. “I did this because I have someone I know who had breast cancer and bought a human hair wig. So, I learned that it was possible to donate hair and I let it grow for a little while, to have the right length to donate.”, explains the young woman. This hair is then sent to the Fake Hair Don’t Care association, which creates wigs made from natural hair.
“There’s a bit of everything, there are large locks of 30 centimeters, 40 centimeters, small donations of 10 centimeters, and we also have partner hairdressers who send us really big cards. So there, it’s really big donations of all types of hair: colored, bleached, long, a little shorter…”, details Cynthia, member of the association.
“We only benefit from our wigs for people with a disease that causes hair loss, so cancer, there is also alopecia, things like that”, explains Cynthia. “We are obliged to ask for a mini-revenue on which we make no profit, it is just to reimburse the products used. It varies between 400 and 1000 euros, knowing that a human hair wig, in general, costs 4000 euros.”
