(East Rutherford) CeeDee Lamb had a one-handed catch for a touchdown as the Dallas Cowboys defeated the New York Giants 23-16 on Monday night.

Lamb’s touchdown, scored with 8:30 to go, capped an offensive streak in which head coach Mike McCarthy successfully took a gamble on an important fourth down.
Ezekiel Elliott scored a major on a one-yard run and Brett Maher made three field goals for the Cowboys (2-1), who defeated the Giants (2-1) for a 10e times in 11 duels.
Cooper Rush threw for a touchdown pass and for 210 yards in the air. He earned a second straight start since replacing Dak Prescott with a thumb injury.
Saquon Barkley made a 36-yard run that ended in a major and the Giants took a 13-6 lead. Graham Gano had three field goals, including one from 51 yards with 3:37 to go.
The Giants won the ball with 1:45 to go, but the offensive streak ended quickly when Trevon Diggs intercepted a pass from Daniel Jones. It was head coach Brian Daboll’s first loss in the NFL.

Rush joined Lamb for a first down and then passed the ball to slotback Peyton Hendershot for a 10-yard gain. The Cowboys quarterback then joined forces with Lamb for two more aerial plays, including the one that gave their team the lead.
A 44-yard field goal from Maher extended the Cowboys lead.
The Dallas squad started the game allowing only one touchdown in their first two outings of the season. The defense pressed Jones on Monday night and she had five sacks. DeMarcus Lawrence tied a career high with three sacks.
