Elections Quebec 2022 | Women would be hit hard by a possible recession, says Anglade

The risks of a recession are real and women would suffer greatly from the consequences, said the leader of the Liberal Party of Quebec (PLQ) Dominique Anglade, Monday, on day 30 of the election campaign.

A possible economic slowdown would hit Quebec hardest, which lacks workers, said Ms. Anglade, passing through Bourassa-Sauvé, in Montreal North. Women who are already “at arm’s length” in the fields of health and education would suffer from this possible recession, she believes.

On Sunday, the chief caquiste François Legault argued that the risks of recession have increased to 50% in Quebec. If the outgoing Prime Minister pleads in favor of continuity in politics, the Liberal leader believes that she is better “prepared” to face this situation.

“This is one more reason to change” government, argued Dominique Anglade. The latter stresses the importance of having a leader capable of understanding the direct impacts of the labor shortage on the environment and the “economic fabric”.

Ms. Anglade recalled the need to provide a place in daycare for all children, in view of these economic uncertainties. “You want to get through the recession, we will have to be able to have women returning to the labor market,” she said.

Further details will follow.
