(New York) Matt Damon has acclaimed contributors to a book due for release on 1er March on access to drinking water.
Former President Bill Clinton and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Muhammad Yunus are among those who provided blurbs for The Worth of Water, on which the Oscar-winning actor and filmmaker worked with civil and environmental engineer Gary White. Matt Damon has been an advocate for clean water since his visit to Zambia in 2006, and with Gary White, he founded the non-profit organizations Water.org and WaterEquity.
Matt Damon and Gary White met at a Clinton Global Initiative meeting in 2008.
“We are delighted to have written this book together, and we can’t wait to share what happens when a film actor and a civil engineer come together to try to tackle the global water crisis – the stumbles and the obstacles, the breakthroughs and the big gains, and the amazing people we have met along the way, ”the two authors said in a statement Tuesday.
“Our journey has proven two things: First, solving the water crisis is possible – in our lifetime. And second, the key is to unleash the incredible determination and resourcefulness of the people who fight for essential things like clean water and sanitation every day. “
According to the book’s publisher, the Portfolio division of publisher Penguin Random House, The Worth of Water will highlight “the challenges of creating and scaling market-based financial solutions to make safe drinking water and sanitation more accessible. And ultimately, it is the story of how communities and individuals can be empowered to make sustainable investments in their own well-being. “
