A young man has been transferred to an Ottawa children’s hospital in critical condition. The driver and another passenger are in stable condition.

Blood samples were taken from the driver, because he could have been driving while impaired by drugs or alcohol, said the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), Béatrice Dorsainville.

Around 4:45 p.m., in Lochaber, two motorists were racing on the 4e row of Gore when the driver of one of the two vehicles lost control of his car and ended up in a ravine.

The driver and three passengers in the vehicle, all minors, were transported to a hospital.

Investigators will meet with the driver of the accident vehicle when his condition permits.

As for the other vehicle involved in the race, its occupants did not suffer any injuries. Its 18-year-old driver will however be met by SQ police, as will several witnesses.
