Ornaise Eglantine Rayer rising star of women’s cycling

Eglantine Rayer has just had a very good 2022 season. After winning gold in the European Junior Road Cycling Championship, she won silver at the world juniors this Saturday, September 24 in Australia. And the 18-year-old Ornaise does not intend to stop there. Currently licensed to the US Pétruvienne in Saint-Pierre-sur-Dives, she has just signed with the Dutch professional team DSM for the 2023 season. A team with which she could run the first edition of the Tour de Normandie women’s cyclist and why not the Tour de France next summer.

A nugget

By turning professional Eglantine Rayer will have to change coach, her current coach David Louvet, proudly remembers her first meeting with the cyclist Ornaise: “I met Eglantine five years ago, she was minimal. I told her you will be French champion soon and it happened last year. _It’s a nugget_. It has become essential now.”

Exceptional physical predispositions

If Eglantine Rayer has a string of victories, it’s becauseshe also has a physique cut out for cycling. According to Cédric Chaumont, deputy technical director of the French cycling federation: “She has very great physical qualities, which allows us to envisage an interesting future, such as a good power-to-weight ratio, but also great mental qualities.” But according to Cédric Chaumont: “there is still work to reach the very high level, she will have to hang on and work on her ability to set goals.” In short, Eglantine Rayer has everything to be a great cyclist.
