It is the height of the late autumn, which is very successful in the hotel and catering industry. But the professionals are in lack of personnel. The traditional summer jobs are over, the students will soon be going back to school, but even these young people are less and less attracted to seasonal jobs.
Seasonal workers now often demand shorter work periods than the four or five months required in the hotel and catering industry (generally straddling spring, summer and autumn). They also want to benefit from a period of break and vacation.
“There is a lack of arms everywhere, comments Thierry Marx. In tourism, in construction, and of course in the hotel and catering industry. Everyone is struggling to recruit.” Some professions therefore find themselves at odds and have to call on foreign employees.
Thus, the union of hoteliers-restaurateurs signed an agreement for 2023 with the Tunisian government, in order to facilitate the arrival of workers in France. It is therefore necessary to review the issues that keep job seekers away from these professions: scheduling, remuneration, overtime, etc. A paradox when we see that apprenticeship is booming in France.
