The book Chocolat (e) by Thierry Mulhaupt

During these long evenings of almost winter, in the mist and the damp cold, morale is not always there. Sometimes a tile can save furniture, and a piece of good chocolate makes you smile. And it is not Thierry Mulhaupt who will say the opposite.

Thierry Mulhaupt’s family has worked in the bakery business for five generations. As a child, he helped his parents at the family bakery in Merxheim, near Colmar, then turned to pastry, becoming Best Apprentice Pastry Chef in France in 1981, at 18, and Best Apprentice Pastry Chef in the world the following year. It’s already a bit of Thierry… Thierry Mulhaupt continues his training with the Malitourne, Dalloyau and La Tour d’Argent companies.

He moved to Alsace in 1991. Today he has 3 shops and a production laboratory there. And he released a new book about his passion: Chocolate with a (e) in brackets, because it sounds like the Spanish word chocolate… This book was born out of the fascinating Colombian adventure which led Thierry Mulhaupt to acquire a 10 hectare plantation on the foothills of the Andes Cordillera and nourished his commitment to agroforestry, biodiversity and sustainable cocoa. With this book, learn everything from cocoa to chocolate: its history, its culture, its geopolitical economy, its symbolism, up to the important eco-responsible criteria on which Thierry Mulhaupt makes us aware. The secrets of cocoa, the art of chocolate making and its tasting, the luxuriant and generous nature of Colombia, coffee are discussed, and much more … There are plenty of recipes between invitations to travel, and like the chocolate of Thierry Mulhaupt, it is rich in emotions.

You can find the book in Mulhaupt chocolate factories in Strasbourg, Mundolsheim and Colmar, or in bookstores, for € 37.
