Two people lost their lives on Friday following a seaplane accident far north of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.
According to the Sûreté du Québec, a distress beacon was activated Friday morning near Petit lac Onistagane, a body of water on the northwest shore of the St. Lawrence River, in the unorganized territory of Passes-Dangereuses.
Quickly after the emergency signal, the National Defense began research before finding the device. Two people, a man and a woman, did not survive.
Police were unable to say whether they died in a crash.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is leading the investigation in collaboration with the SQ. A coroner will also be assigned and an autopsy will be required.
