Fabien Centonze arrived calm and focused in the press room this afternoon at La Jonelière, accompanied by his new coach Antoine Kombouaré. It took a short time to mention his potential unavailability due to a right thigh injuryconfirmed during his medical visit. “I played with Metz last weekend, not knowing that the injury was not completely healed. By coming here we preferred to treat the thing. It’s nothing to worry about if it’s treated well. We are in the perspective of healing the wound, there is not necessarily a time limit. But it’s not going to take months, we’re going to do things right”. And Antoine Kombouaré to sweep: “We are going to do a medical check-up with him, we think it is a strain. Today he is resting, against Monaco, we will see”. In any case, the new number 28 of the Yellow and Green did not hide his desire to join FC Nantes and play again in Ligue 1.
His determination to join the Canaries is up to the hopes placed in him by Antoine Kombouaré in the right lane: “He’s a player I’ve wanted for a long time. He brings a lot of percussion, he is able to do a lot of damage in his lane, and above all he has a lot of efficiency on the offensive level.. With four goals last season for FC Metz, Fabien Centonze is a complete corridor player and determined to serve the Canaries attack. Maintenance.
Were you focused on FC Nantes?
My choice was centered on Nantes for a while. I really wanted to join the club and today I am the happiest in the world to be here. I know that there is a very nice atmosphere, for me it is one of the most beautiful stadiums, with one of the best audiences. I am relieved and very happy to be back in Ligue 1, because we know that in football things can go very quickly. I would like to thank all the people who worked to bring me here, it shows the confidence that the club has in me and it will be up to me to return this confidence first by taking care of myself to come back as soon as possible and then by being efficient.
A full side
What kind of side do you think you are?
I like to bring offensively, to project myself forward. To be able to serve the attackers, to be in goal action, it’s pleasant. Perhaps because I had never been trained as a defender until I arrived as a pro at Évian TG, at 19.
You weren’t a defender until you were 19?
No, I was a winger or a striker. So I know that when you are an attacker, you like to receive good balls, to be put in a good mood. So that’s why when I miss a pass or a cross, I know what the other is thinking, and I try to correct it. But I also like to defend, it’s a real pleasure.
When I join a club, I do it 200%
What do you think you bring to the current FC Nantes team?
Already, a lot of determination. Because when I join a club, I do it 200%. I would like to bring a lot of percussion, bring as much ball as possible for the players in front, put them in perfect conditions. Otherwise I’ve been playing on the right for several years, it’s a preferential position, but I also played on the left during my first season as a pro. So even if today I flourish on the right, if the coach needs me on the left, I will give the maximum. I am really at the service of the collective.
