an exercise simulating a terrorist attack at Aiguebelle Abbey

Prepare for the worst. Every year now, the Drôme prefecture organizes a large-scale exercise as part of the “Novi – act of terrorism” plan (Novi, abbreviation of many victims). The objective is to test the coordination of the various stakeholders: gendarmerie, national police, firefighters, magistrates, Samu, regional health agency, mayors.

After the simulation of the derailment of a train last year near Tain-l’Hermitage, it is the abbey of Aiguebelle in Montjoyer in the South Drôme which was chosen this Thursday for this exercise. For the purposes of the operation, a section of departmental road 550 between Montjoyer and Réauville was closed to traffic.

The scenario is that of an attack in the monastery which would have made several victims. The exercise which officially started at 9 a.m. is due to last until 4 p.m.
