(Buffalo) Although his reconstruction work is far from over, Kevyn Adams signed a contract extension as general manager of the Buffalo Sabers on Wednesday.

The coming season will be his third in office.
The former NHL player was working in business operations for the Sabers when they offered him a promotion as Jason Botterill’s replacement in June 2020.
Since that time, Don Granato has replaced Ralph Krueger as head coach and the core of the team has changed a lot, notably with the trade of Jack Eichel to the Vegas Golden Knights last November.
Adams focused his plan on youth and players who really wanted to play for Buffalo.
The Sabers haven’t made the playoffs since 2011, the longest such drought in the NHL.
“Kevyn has shown invaluable leadership and vision over the past two years,” Sabers owner Terry Pegula said in a statement. I am confident to see him continue to improve the team, on and off the ice. »
The Sabers had a solid finish to the season last season (12 wins in their last 21 games), en route to a 32-39-11 record.
Tage Thompson flourished under Granato, which was not the case with Kruger in charge.
The 24-year-old American has tallied 38 goals and 68 points in 78 games.
Acquired in the trade involving Eichel, Alex Tuch and Peyton Krebs also did very well with the Sabers.
The 47-year-old Adams played 10 National League seasons, scoring 59 goals and 136 points in 540 games. He helped the Hurricanes win the Stanley Cup in 2006.
After a short stint as a player agent, Adams joined the Sabers’ player development staff in 2009. He also served as an assistant head coach.
He was working in the club’s business operations when he was hired as general manager.
