The armed man which created quite a commotion at the beginning of August at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal was eventually arrested in Toronto.
Menachem Mendel Cohen, 26, had been wanted since August 9 after showing up at the hospital with a fake firearm.
The man was actually in possession of a “BB Gun” type pellet gun.
In the late afternoon of August 9, Mendel Cohen was seen outside the Jewish General Hospital as he pointed his gun skyward, before putting it back on his belt and entering the medical facility .
But when the police arrived on the scene, the suspect had already left.
About 30 minutes later, Menachem Mendel Cohen allegedly used his weapon to fire projectiles at a residence on Carlton Avenue, not far from the hospital, in the Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de borough. -Grace.
No one was injured in these two events.
Surveillance cameras and witness statements greatly assisted the police in advancing the investigation.
Quickly, the authorities were able to identify Menachem Mendel Cohen as the author of these two incidents.
The latter was arrested last Thursday in the queen city. He was wanted on an arrest warrant.
The suspect was repatriated to Montreal and was scheduled to appear Tuesday on various charges.
