“key ages” according to the Minister of Health

Health insurance will invite every French person to free medical consultations at “three ages of life: 25, 45 and 65”. Of the “indicative ages” which are “key ages in preventive actions” and “in the life of an adult”, indicates François Braun, the Minister of Health, invited Monday, September 19 on France Inter.

“25 years old is the age when we are in active life, it is a time when it is advisable to take stock of vaccinations, risk factors, tobacco addiction, alcohol, on screens”, says François Braun. The Minister of Health also guarantees that at the age of 24 or 26, “you can also do” this balance sheet.

“At 45, we will be on cardiovascular diseases, on screening for certain cancers, breast, cervix, colon”, he continues. Finally, to “65 years, we will have a more important axis on the loss of autonomy, on the fact of detecting the loss of autonomy”, summarizes François Braun.

“It is at these times that we must act as much as possible on prevention”, adds the Minister of Health, who recalls that the objective of this measure is to “strengthen the prevention component of the French health system” who “is still a long way off” compared to other European neighbours. “Our country is not good at prevention, we have been saying that for years, but now we have decided to act”promises François Braun.

It recognizes that prevention “it’s something complicated because it doesn’t pay off right away”, but in “10 years, 15 years”. “A temporality which is not a usual political temporality”. However, François Braun considers that it is “essential” of “mark time right now”.
