Murder of a 42-year-old woman in Montreal North

An investigation has been opened by the police into the murder of a 42-year-old woman whose body was found in an apartment in Montreal North on Friday morning.

His body bore marks of violence, said Jean-Pierre Brabant, of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). The case therefore went from “suspicious death” in the morning to “murder investigation” in the afternoon.

Without news of his friend, a man went to the woman, boulevard Lacordaire, to see her. It was then that he discovered her lifeless body and called 911 around 9:30 a.m., said agent Brabant.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.

SPVM investigators went on site Friday morning to analyze the scene, gather information from the neighborhood and try to see if surveillance cameras had been able to capture images useful to the investigation.

No arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon.

The SPVM does not close the door to the possibility of a spousal murder, but it could not confirm for the moment if the woman was in a relationship. Investigators spoke with the victim’s friend to try to find out more.

This is the 24e murder committed on the territory of the city of Montreal this year.
