The largest 66-million-year-old triceratops has sold for over six million euros in Paris. Won by an American collector to the detriment of museums which could not afford to get their hands on “Big John”.

It took less than 15 minutes for a mysterious American collector to take the win. The triceratops was sold for 6.6 million euros with costs. A record in Europe has just been set for a dinosaur fossil.

It is a real treasure that has just been sold. “Big John” was the largest dinosaur fossil in the world. Bones 66 million years old. The monster is eight meters high and three meters long. It was found in 2014 in the plains of the American Midwest then restored in Italy before being reassembled piece by piece in Paris.
