Quebec reports a drop of 29 hospitalizations linked to COVID-19

The Quebec government reported 21 additional deaths on Friday, as well as a decrease of 29 hospitalizations related to COVID-19.

The death toll from the disease now stands at 16,648 since the start of the pandemic. However, no deaths were reported for Thursday alone.

There were 1,543 hospitalizations, including 503 due to COVID-19, down 29 from the previous day. There were 90 new hospitalizations on Thursday, 32 of which received a diagnosis directly related to COVID.

Authorities counted 35 patients in intensive care, one less than the previous day.

The ministry reported 731 new cases, although the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority groups.

There were 3,616 healthcare workers absent for reasons related to COVID-19, down 41 from the previous tally.

According to the Health Quebec dashboard posted on Twitter, the positivity rate was 7.7%, an increase of three tenths of a percentage point from the previous day.

A total of 146 rapid tests were self-reported for Wednesday, including 112 positives. The total stands at 287,868 self-reported rapid tests so far, including 241,228 positives.

In terms of vaccination, 24,346 doses administered are added, for a total of nearly 21 million doses administered in Quebec.
