The “Play it again” Festival rediscovers the great classics of the 7th art in French cinemas

Since 2015, the “Play it again” Festival has thrilled the public with great cinema classics screened in a restored version. 300 cinemas throughout France are participating in the 8th edition sponsored by actor and director Alex Lutz.

The great classics of the 7th art return to dark rooms. On the occasion of the “Play it again” Festival which is in full swing in 300 cinemas across France, until September 27. Among the selected works, The good life by Jean-Paul Rappeneau with the young duo Catherine Deneuve and Philippe Noiret. A comedy that continues to seduce the public, 56 years after its release. “It’s a great moment in cinema because it’s a film I’ve never seen on the big screen. The public can enjoy these cult films in restored versions, like The City of Fear and an Carioca now in 4K version. Same treatment for The Godfather, a Coppola classic, with better image quality than before. Young audiences are not forgotten, however, they have their own dedicated programming with animated feature films like The Seagull and the Cat by Enzo D’Alo or famous works that we never get tired of, like My uncle by Jacques Tati.

In total, twenty films are honored for the 8th edition of the festival. A selection that relies on plurality to attract all audiences: “You need legendary, family films that you want to rediscover because they haven’t been shown in theaters for many years. It is in this diversity that cinemas can distinguish themselves and once again attract audiencesexplains Nicolas Baisez director of the cinema The Palace.
