Throughout the night, the firefighters continued the search. Four people were found dead in their garages. The provisional toll stands at ten dead and four missing. The rains were concentrated in the province of Ancona, near the Adriatic Sea. Between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.42 cm of water fell, the equivalent of six months of rain in the region.
On the morning of Friday, September 16, the water level fell as quickly as it had risen, revealing a desolate landscape. Many areas are still without electricity, and schools in the province of Ancona remain closed.
