Central Italy was hit by violent weather, Thursday, September 15, with floods that caused the death of at least ten people. Four are still missing, including an eight-year-old boy.

Torrential rains hit central Italy on Thursday 15 September. The municipality of Senigallia (Italy) was the most affected by the floods, which invaded the entire city. Throughout the night, the firefighters continued the search. Four people were found dead in their garages. The provisional toll stands at ten dead and four missing. The rains were concentrated in the province of Ancona, near the Adriatic Sea. Between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.42 cm of water fell, the equivalent of six months of rain in the region.

On the morning of Friday, September 16, the water level fell as quickly as it had risen, revealing a desolate landscape. The damage is significant : cut roads, collapsed bridges. 300 firefighters are hard at work and significant air resources have been deployed. Many areas are still without electricity, and schools in the province of Ancona remain closed.
