[PHOTOS] Suspicious fire in the Southwest, in Montreal

Montreal police are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred in a residential building in the Sud-Ouest borough on the night of Thursday to Friday.

The fire broke out around 1 a.m. in a building located on rue Lenoir, near rue Saint-Jacques, according to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

No injuries were to be deplored during this start of the fire, which was quickly brought under control elsewhere, while a large perimeter was erected.

The causes of the disaster are still unknown, but certain elements argue for the possibly criminal nature of the fire, according to SPVM spokesperson Gabriella Youakim.

According to reports, one or more suspects sprayed the door of the building before fleeing on foot.

The investigation has been transferred to the SPVM’s arson section to try to determine the exact causes, it was added.
