They had lost sight of each other. Yet very close until he left the band in 2021, Jean-Michel Maire and Matthieu Delormeau moved away little by little. But their quarrels had nothing to do with TPMP. Indeed, it is a matter far removed from the everyday life of C8 who would have gotten the better of their strong friendship of yesteryear. This Thursday, September 15, Cyril Hanouna, in the manner of Only the truth matterswanted to patch up the two members of his team who were engaged in a settling of scores filled with emotion.
It was the journalist and ex-reporter who opened the ball by recalling that “Last year, the bonds of friendship that we had woven were much stretched. We each have our share of responsibility. But one evening, in front of my post, I caught myself in the face that I was your disappointment of the year, when you were my best friend”he first said before calling back: “You figured our friendship might just be a friendship on the set.”
Matthieu Delormeau with tears in his eyes
The two columnists explain that, after the departure of Jean-Michel Maire from TPMP, they met for a game of poker when the journalist was having money problems. Debts which will increase when, by losing part, the one who left the band in 2021 owes around 2000 euros to Matthieu Delormeau. “Every time we saw each other, you reminded me that I had a debt so that put pressure on me. It’s true that I had less and less desire to see you suddenly. I was already surrounded by creditors, I didn’t want to see my best friend to tell me to dig my grave a little more”remembers Jean-Michel Maire.
An explanation that then plunges Matthieu Delormeau into a deep emotion that swings at his sidekick: “It’s very hard… I don’t care about these 2000 euros, I didn’t expect to see them again. Poker was just an excuse to have dinner together”. The host of TPMP People subsequently assures that he knew nothing of the financial worries of Jean-Michel Maire and that he had never known why he had been so fleeing in recent months. Eventually, the two admitted their wrongs and eventually reconciled. A beautiful sequence which is already part of the best-of of the year.
